Questions for all who’ll be out on Jan. 20th to shoot the eclipse: I’m using Olympus OM D5 Mark II & want to use either my 40-150mm f2.8 Pro lens or my 17mm f1.8 lens to shoot the eclipse. Would I get better quality shots with the telephoto or the prime? Settings to start probably f11 ISO 100 Shutter 1/125? And of course tripod.
I used to use a Canon 70D with a Tamron 150-600 lens for moon stuff but switched to the Mirrorless for travel convenience, so am not sure which lens might be better for this event. Thanks to all.

Depends on what you want. Do you want a picture of the moon only? Can you line up some object in a telephoto shot to add interest/subject? Do you have a landscape that you want to get what looks like a daytime shot with starry skies?

The moon will be very small with your 17mm. Test some shots with the 40-150 before the big day for a preview of the size you want. And the moon will have much less light falling on it when eclipsing so your ISO will need to be increased. Make sure you review the shots as the event unfolds to get what you want.
With a 70D and 150-600 Tamron what would be the shutter speed and ISO.
Thank you
Jim
