This Acorn Woodpecker perched in the spot that the majority of them pick. I need to get them to land somewhere else.
The Western Kingbird landed and moved around to several places but by the time I had the camera out and powered up it was on the power lines at the back of my yard and a good 80-90' away with a strong back light from the right. So the crop is extreme. It took the sharpness away and made the noise visible, even with the fill flash (Yongnuo yn600ex, first model with a better beamer flash extender). My hands not being at their steadiest today didn't help.
All three shots are: 80D, 100-400L mk II + 1.4 III extender @ 560, 1/250 @ f/8.0, ISO 400 spot meter, fill flash and hand held
#1 the Acorn Woodpecker had "red eye" from the flash and I had to color in the eye
#2 This one of the Kingbird seems to glow with the light coming through the feathers from the right rear
#3 I decided to see if I could make this one look like an illustration-only so-so results, I am just not real good at it.

Very nice set, Bob! It appears that you really captured the light in the last one.
