Canon's wirelss Flash tips and tricks for beginners.
Hello, after figuring out my Canon's setting for wireless flash, I decided to ask you for help with any tips you can think of for someone like me, who is just strting it. I have Canon 77D, Canon Speedlite 430EX II RT, Canon St-E3-RT trigger and two Yongnuo 600RT Flashes. My hope is to create small studio using all three flashes. I also have two studio stands with black and silver umbrellas, as well small backdrop stand and 10 bnackdrops. Anything you thing I should know, it is welcomed. I know how to setup RT System either on one channel or 3 individual channels. ETTL, Strobe, Power decrese or increase. Thank you. Jack.

If you want to use all three, you'll have to get a slave for the 430, as that is not compatible with the ST-E3_RT trigger!

I agree. Yongnuo makes an inexpensive slave that you can plug into the 430, or you can let it optically trigger off the flash of the 600s. I have an almost identical setup myself, except 3 600EX-RTs (1 Canon and two yongnuos). I set up each of the flashes in a seperate group (A,B,C) and put everything on ETTL. I use classic “Rembrandt” lighting with one flash at full power about 45 deg off center from and above the subject. I use the second at 50% power above and centered on the subject (both using umbrellas), and the 3rd for a background or hair light and set the power as needed. Putting each flash in a seperate group allows you to control the power of each independently. Disclaimer: I am a rank amateur at portraiture and if any of this is incorrect or can be improved, please correct me - just following the directions from Strobist 101/102.
Actually I have Canon 430EX III RT and it works with Canon trigger. This is confirm by the Canon themselves. If it comes to your lighting methods is sounds very interesting. I can't wait to try it.
How about four flashes setup? Any ideas?

Maybe members like EL Shapiro and others who are skilled in portraiture can comment...
You could add a honeycomb grid to one of the speedlites when using it for a hair light or rim light. There's the Rogue 3 in 1 flash grid system. You can create 16, 25, and 45 degree grid spots. I have the Hubble HB-01 honeycomb grid that I use with my SB-700 flash.

As long as it's in a studio environment with no one else firing flash and within a reasonable distance, you could just set the others to slave.

I know the 430 EX III is compatible, but in your post you mentioned the 430 EX II which isn't!

Remember how to get a very large umbrella effect for the shadow fill light by using the corner of two white walls and a white ceiling and aim a wide flash at the point formed by the three surfaces.
Use just one light and discover the appropriate lighting patterns depending on your subject matter. Move on to including a kicker/hair light to separate your subject from the background. I started with a muslin background but mostly use paper now. A great color to begin with is grey. You can turn it white or black or gel it include other colors. It's the most versatile color in my opinion.
I'm sorry you are right. I made a typo and instead of 430EX III RT I wrote 430EX II RT. Thanks for catching my mistake. Jack.
I decided to try a complicated setup. 7 flashes, It just happened that I have 7 flashes and I will try to use them all. Boom on the top, small stand from below and 4 flashes on both sides. I will experiment hopefully within few days. I just waiting for ci=couple triggers and boom stand. I know five flash setup, but since I have the equipment, I will try it. If you have different ideas, just post It! Thank you. Jack.
