..is not a term I was familiar with until reading a response on my son's Instagram blog (to an original piece of digital art as it happens, not a photo). I thought it applied well to some of the technique I've tried in this composite. It's taken me a while to get back into this sort of thing, having got into the doldrums for a while. Thankfully Linda inadvertently reminding me I had started a course on photo-artistry and I'm back on track - although please feel free to disagree! For those interested in this sort of thing, please critique as you see fit. I feel there are several issues with composition and technique, but its probably as far as I will take this actual piece. Meanwhile, my thanks to Linda for the kick-start. I should add that all elements bar the silhouetted birds are my own.

I wouldn't describe this as my sort of thing because I haven't learned how to do composites, but as a genre I would be happy to see more of it. And if they're all as well done as this one I won't be disappointed.

Dave, you absolutely have the kind of creative mind needed for bashing So glad you've found a new (renewed) passion and I can't wait to see more.

Had to look this one up. Here's and interesting article about Photobashing, Photoshopping and Digital Art for those interested. https://conceptartempire.com/photobashing/

It takes a lot of imagination and creative art work to create an image like this. Very nicely done. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

I expect a few here won’t find it their sort of thing RG, it’s not for purists after all! It does however expand the use of a half-decent photograph, and extend one’s artistic bent a bit. Well, that’s my excuse. I sometimes go on arranged photo shoots and then don’t quite know what to do with the results. This opens up the options for me. Thanks for commenting, it’s appreciated.

I cant help but see this as an illustration that would be on a book cover. Or a poster for the movie. I wonder if you have some plot in your head, or just putting elements together. No mater which, its a stimulation of your creative juices, and I would say, full steam ahead.

Thanks for the link Steve, it’s interesting. I’m currently learning a 3D programme that lets you build relatively basic stuff and I was hoping to use some elements from it for this sort of composite - and there it is being described. I’m guessing my concept artist son uses it but haven’t seen any results as yet.

You can post all of these you want. I think it is absolutely cool and creative! Wooohooo another avenue to explore. With that being said, I think the bottom left corner is a little muddy like you were not quite sure what to do there but that's just my opinion. Otherwise, terrific job!

Yes, that corner is one of the issues Keni. I was distracted by composing the elements and didn't pay enough attention to that corner - I later thought of putting a rat on the boulder there but couldn't come up with anything suitable. All part of the learning curve I guess. Many thanks for your comments.

No original intention I'm afraid Mark - just a case of seeing what will go together. I did go out to get the castle shot (whilst it was illuminated for Christmas) with the intention of using it with a figure from a previous photoshoot but, beyond that, had no idea where I would end up with it. If I could development a better insight to these things it would probably help the end result, but whether that will come is anyones guess. Thanks for the comments, they all help.

Cool concept Dave !!! A work in progress, I'm sure there are issues you would want to correct and maybe some additional elements to add, but this is the sort of thing that strikes my interest. Altho, I'm not familiar with Photo-Bashing and it will take some studying on my part to understand the technique, I do think I will investigate more. Thanks for the introduction.
Dave
