That seems like a rather slow shutter speed for a sport event. May I ask what camera you use? At 8fps, you must have a full frame camera. I am not being a smart ass, just looking to learn more about photography from my peers.

I use mine for competitive swim meets. I have taken shots both from the bleachers and from on the deck; Auto ISO, shutter preferred @ 1/400th, 8 fr/sec, autofocus. Depending upon the lighting or backlighting, I may override +.3 or +.7 overexposure. It is perfect in this environment. Maybe a little heavy, but, Oh Well.

I use a Nikon D7000. DX camera [crop frame] The majority of shots are done at 250 to 350 mm. Image of grandson shown was taken from the bleachers at about 300mm. Notice the water rolling off his face and back.

Have had one for several months now used on both a D7200 and D500. I recommend it for a walk around lens.

The 4th lens on the list provided is the 18-400 which is the lens I have and the console that I used. It worked great!

Thanks for including the Tamron link to compatible lens for the "tuning device." I eagerly looked to see if my old Model A09 was on the list. It is not. Just 28-75mm. Probably perfect anyway.

Please do yourself a favor. Never, ever, buy a grey market Tamron lens. The company will not support it in any way. Tamron is a wonderful company and has some of the best lens offerings. They are much cheaper and often better than those offered by Nikon or Canon. A grey market lens will void any attempt on your part to avail yourself with their 6-year guarantee. It's not worth it to take the chance!

I have had mine for almost a year. It is almost always on my camera (Nikon d7100) and I am very happy with it. I would be a little skeptical of a price under 500 dollars. Make sure it is not grey market. I paid 649.00. I was at Cardinal Camera a couple days ago and they had it in sale for 549.00. Good luck.
