I'm about to get a new Laptop computer, for Moderate Lightroom use how much RAM memory is needed?
Will 8 GB be enough? 12? 16? Lightroom is likely the most demanding of the programs I use.
Thanks in advance for the opinions of you users.

Remember you can easily and inexpensively add RAM after buying a cheaper one
Maybe your current laptop is upgradable? Processor speed, Graphics card, Solid State operating system hard drive is just as important as RAM. 16 GB of RAM is sufficient.
Mark.

Go to the Adobe site and they have listed the requirements.

Since you are getting a new laptop, I would highly recommend 16 GB as a minimum and preferably 32 or even 64 GB. Obviously this point is a shot in the dark as I have NO IDEA what your budget is

Ditto on this! Be sure the model does allow for additional RAM to be added, otherwise you are boxing yourself into a corner.
With memory, more is always better moving forward.
I am having no problems running Lightroom CC Classic, Camera Raw, and Photoshop 2019 using 8gb RAM.

16GB is good, 32 is better and 8 is very marginal. Personally, I wouldn’t use less than 16. The downside with insufficient DRAM is that when it nears capacity, the computer is forced to page to disk, and that is the worst performance killer imaginable. Can you run in 8, yes - maybe even 4, but is it a good use of your computer’s resources and your time? No. Make sure you get 64 bit Windows 10 because 32 bit can only address 4GB no matter how much you install.

You only "need" 8 gb, but 16 is better, especially if you have other programs open. LR will not use more than 8-10 gb on it's own. On the other hand, while photoshop can run (as in not crash) in an 8 gb machine, it really does amazingly better when you go to 32 gb or more. The less you need to the scratch disk, the better the performance. I hardly ever hit that scratch disk anymore.

That totally depends on the brand and model, my friend.
I just got a new Dell Laptop Inspiron 15 5000 series. 16GB ram with a 2 TB Solid State Drive. Works great. I would not get less than 16GB ram.

Usually true, but not always. Check the manual to see what the upper limit is on supportable RAM.

The minimum requirements listed are what is required for LR to work.
More than that is required for LR to work well.
To allow for "future progress" get the most RAM you can afford.
