I'm wanting to know if anyone out there owns one of these cameras and what they think about it, how they like or dislike it?

If you've never used a long zoom bridge camera before and you are at all "wobbly," holding it steady will be a problem. I loved my sx50, but noticed within two years that photos weren't as sharp for that reason. Would this purchase supplement what you already own?

I was just wondering the same thing more on the line of if it's better than my SX50 in pic quality than the SX60 was .Did Canon listen to those of us that rated the SX50 better overall or did they just slap a longer reaching lens on it? YES I know they did improve the inards but was it a real world improvement or just on paper

The SX-50 was a good long-zoom bridge camera back in it's day but technology has improved over the years since the SX-50.

I have a Canon SX 60 HS that’s backup to my Nikon D850. You can’t reasonably compare the two, but the Canon is a decent little Camera for what it is. The fast zoom to outrageous X factors is pretty amazing. Like any long lens, performance is always improved when using a tripod.
Photo quality can’t compare to a full frame (40+ mp) camera with high quality lenses, but the Canon and the Nikon P9000 are at the top of the heap when it comes to “bridge” cameras.

My biggest complaint with the new SX70 is the removal of the hotshoe. I see that as a step backwards.

I owned the SX50 about 6 months after Canon started selling it and bought the SX60 over a year ago. I’ve never used an external flash. I’ve used the pop-up twice. The loss of the shoe to me is much to do about nothing.

To each their own. Artificial light has it's place especially with a small sensor. Some of us prefer to shape our light. Under low light conditions, these tiny sensors struggle to make clean images. Adding light can make a huge difference.

I do not owe one, but it seems to be quite the improvement over the SX50, which was a pretty decent bridge, the SX60 was not so much, but this one supposed to be a nice one!

For those complaining about lack of hotshoe, just get an external flash with slave capability
