A close friend whose husband passed several years ago discovered a pristine Canon kit while cleaning. She has asked me to sell it for her. I’m not a Canon man and have no idea where to start, but I knew the hogs could help. The kit is a Canon AE-1 program body, vivitar 28 2.8 auto lens with uv filter, a jager 80-200 macro 4.5 auto zoom with uv filter, a Jagar 2X tele converter c/FD, Jakar auto 27B flash, all lens and body caps, Canon instructional manual, heavy camera strap, and a coaster shoulder bag. All appears to be in like new condition with only a few spots on exterior of bag that could be cleaned. I need advise on where to sell this gem and what it is worth. Thanks in advance for the advise.
You can probably get some idea of the value of these items on eBay.

I looked there under complete items and noticed that most don’t do a good job of noting condition or what brand the lenses are. Also , this camera has Jager flash and lense and I don’t know their value if it is good or bad.

The bodies are selling between $80 and $150 depending on the condition. If it’s perfect, I would probably ask $125 - less if it’s not. No idea on the lenses or flash. Why not buy a roll and shoot it? It’s a solid camera (I owned 2 for about 30 years).
Open the battery compartment and assure it's empty and doesn't have a corroded, long forgotten battery. Using ebay to determine the 'recently sold' price is getting harder. On KEH you can see them listed around $125. I sold some stuff to KEH recently at an in-person event. They wouldn't even make an offer on the AE-1 I'd brought along. Of all the items you mentioned, the camera body is the only item of any value and would fetch probably $100 or less if you can find anyone interested. If there is a corroded battery or the door can't even been opened, it's now just trash.

Battery compartment looks pristine like the rest of the camera. Thank you very much for the advise
I paid a little over $50 plus shipping on Ebay for mine six months ago. I was really after this lens cap, though.
I sold a very clean A-1 with a couple of lenses and flash for 100.00.
I bought an AE-1 with 50 Canon lens for $25.00. I'm afraid their monetary value isn't much.
Try a different pawn shop, if you don’t like what they offer you don’t have to sell it.

Hi dub3 - Merry Christmas to you and yours - I have owned an AE-1P since Dec 1981, used it for backup for weddings and portraits back than. But I'm afraid their value is not good, be lucky to sell to retailers if at all. I still use mine on occasion just to check it out, still works great. Sometimes wished could go back to the film cameras. But afraid they have gone to way side of digital. I see your a Nikon person. I would suggest that you let her know value not much because not digital. Take trix advise buy a roll or 2 and test out yourself with lens and tele converter with zoom. If everything seems to be okay try to sell all items to younger generation that could be interested in photography's history, be lucky to get $150 at that. I've seen on ebay AE-1 camera with 55mm lens alone go for $35. Or just put on collector's shelf for show-and-tell. Hope this helps you out on decision. Happy Holidays

Nice find and if memory serves me right, that cap perhaps should be on an F-1n rather than an AE-1, not that it is important, but then I suspect you already know that. 🙂

Is There a school near that offers a film photography course? Would be a good place to donate that gear. Some schools have B&W darkroom classes. They might like a good film camera.

I believe you are right on that
