I was in the Navy from 1974-1980, and served on two different ships, the USS Voge (FF-1047) and the USS Julius A. Furer (FFG-6). In that time, I made a cruise to the Mediterranean, the North Atlantic, two to the Middle East, and several quick jaunts to the Caribbean. I've been going through some of my old photos (mostly 35mm slides), scanning them, and cleaning them up in Lightroom. Here's a few...

I too was a navy man during Korea a little before your time. I served on a tin can plane guarding the carriers out of Cuba. Thats where they came to train the new sky jocks. Seen a few miss their landing and end up in the drink. The choppers picked up the pilots. We had to make sure the plane went to Davy Jones Locker.

Nice shots, did my Med Cruises 68-70, AF52 Arcturus, lots of UnReps, used to tell the destroyers etc to surface, BTW it's even more fun when the ship heels to 'roll max' one atlantic storm we hit 'roll max' also buried the front half up to the bridge but we came up , obviously, wish I could find my photos from then, mostly B&W from an Argus C-3, Bob.

Great stuff, reminds me of my time in. I was on the USS John F. Kennedy back in the '70s. Wish I had taken a camera with me!

As a fellow world traveler on the gov't tab (USAF 80 - 92, stationed in Okinawa and then flight crew on a cargo heavy), I envy you and the great photos. Mine were from a Weatherman Instamatic. I really like the "Little Rough" photo. What you could do with RAW processing on that!

Thanks for your service jlocke.
