I enjoy the little tidbits of history and background you give with your photos. Great view of the city in this one! Our area was near a main route of the Underground Railroad up through Michigan. One wonders how in the world they made it so far without being found out! I was surprised when I first moved to Michigan to find little pockets of their descendants scattered up and down the middle and west part of Michigan.

People would hide them in their homes then they would guided to the next "station' north.

Thank you Photophile!!, my mother did too...
in fact, she willed it to me. but I didn't play them,
so I gave it to my Sister-in-law, who did!

Pat your story makes me think of a young man that I worked with in the Minneapolis area that made the news having a organ transplant at a young age. If I remember righty he was around two.

Our younger grandson made history when he had a heart transplant at age 12 days!!! Now 13 yrs old & you'd never know he had any surgery!!!

The first time this country girl saw sneakers hanging, it was in Denver and I was told it was the way a gang marked it's territory. Last Fall I saw these hanging in a tree near the "swimmin hole" and wondered. Is this the sign of a gang? Did someone leave their sneakers and someone else hang them in a tree for owner to find? I don't have an answer but I still wonder....

Good question Pat...had they been on street wires well yes

Big Creek flows into the Rocky River which flows into Lake Erie. Looks peace usually but can take out a footbridge.

I see here ''control'' because of the walls, spring thaw and erosion...

Great set - I especially like the one at the cemetery - it evokes all sorts of feelings and memories.
A photo always has extra meaning depending on who took it and who is viewing it.

The first one...BlueMorel, like it

That is so interesting. And who would ever stop and ponder long enough to notice or ask a question - not many.

Part of the game Pat...I ask questions, sometimes too many too often

Back to the houses....Here they are facing the road, but backed off a ways and this way no dust but also according to the predominant winds. Now thee houses are on the same road as the others but farms are much bigger which leaves me to believe that the smaller one sight have been a small farm andthe owner had a job elsewhere, either on those big farms or as a logger.
