Hello, I am a Oldbe. A Lifetime Amateur since ‘74, I started on this passion with a Canon Ftb SLR, 55mm 1.2 lens; it opened so wide, I could see tomorrow. Now that I am older and sloooow, I use my Canon PowerShot SX for those every day, don't want to take a chance and miss, shots and my Sigma Dp1x and Dp2x for those, any chance at the wow this might be fabulous, shots. Just thought I’d start a thread that yall might enjoy jumping on: PLEASE ADD YOUR INSIGHTS.
THE AMATEUR HARD WAY
The best camera is the one in your hands IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE EVERYTHING ON IT;
the worst camera is that same camera IF YOU DON’T!
They always know:
bring a long lens and they will land on your shoulders,
a short one and animals will dance on the horizon...together!
Bring a zoom and the forest is empty! You cannot even buy a breeze.
“AUTO” means “you ought to” know more.
Rule of thirds, today: Know how to take pictures (b) take the pictures and (c) photo processing them.
What they don’t tell you about the shot: they took 4000 shots to get that one! … and it took 3 days of processing.
The lens you need is the one you left at home.
Your batteries ONLY run down IF you didn’t bring another one.
Forget that rule of getting closer IF it can eat you.
If you pack everything, you’ll only need a point-n-shoot;
bring the point-n-shoot and you’ll wish you had your whole pack.
Call (CA) Cameras Anonymous (1-bhpoto-help) if you cannot stop buying gear!
Telephone poles do grow out of people’s heads!
On those absolutely, have to have, cannot miss, life threatening if you mess up shots,
don’t try something brand new for the first time;do bring an extra camera and take backup shots. My baby shots were purple!
Be ready before it happens OR IT IS GONE!
The best weather for any picture was "You should have been here YESTERDAY!"
