Make sure horizons are straight

Aim for in focus photos

What 2 things do you think would make the greatest improvement?

Straight horizons is a pet peeve of mine.
But I think if the picture is overall out of focus it doesn't matter about getting the other things right.

A very GOOD question ! Here is my four...

Quality of light and placement

Choice and treatment of backround.

My Facial stabilizers ( aids in compositional and AF accuracies)

Proper shutter speed for the scenario

In focus and as properly exposed in camera as possible, horizon lines are easily fixed.

The topic "Simple fixes..." implies after-the-fact, or post processing. Under that premise, my typical fixes include horizon straightening, but cropping (to improve composition), and exposure tweaking are most commonly needed.

I agree about the horizon. A beautiful landscape image is ruined if the horizon is tilted. For some people an off-kilter world is ok but not for me.

Simple Fix, don't use or abuse post processing software for post editing your photos.

Don't use or don't abuse (or both) post processing software? I personally think most images need post editing to improve the image-if nothing else to drop the highlights and raise the shadows.
By abusing I'm assuming you mean over processing- like garish colors, too much contrast, extreme HDR- that sort of thing?
