I still do portraits for people on occasion. These were for a family friend. They were very happy with them.

The pictures are nice. Choice of clothing is another discussion.

They chose and I think they look fine. They are color coordinated. It was informal, as we live in Florida.

These are excellent. I didn't even notice their clothing until someone mentioned it. I was focused on the faces, lighting and poses, which I think are excellent. Was it all natural light? Very well done!

Thank you so much! They were natural light with fill flash. I always use a speedlight for outdoor portraits. They are in shade on a semi-cloudy day. The speedlight is on camera. I do set my white balance for what the outdoor light is. Thanks again.

roxiemarty you are to be commended for your efforts here... It is obvious you bonded well with your clients... Which btw, is so very important when shooting commercially...

As for the wardrobe styling! Simply Awesome! I get it...

Pendleton Shirts are an American Fashion Icon…
https://www.pendleton-usa.com/the-wool-plaid-shirt.html

They epitomized the “Grunge” Fashion Movement of the mid 1980’s which was centered in Seattle…
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grunge_fashion
Having worked with numerous fashion designers over the years I’ve come to realize how important this American Icon is…

To this end below I've posted a studio image of a “Christmas” session of some years ago…

Once again… The Red Plaid Pendleton Shirt is a ubiquitous “Hallmark” of an entire American subculture… Grunge changed the fashion industry more than nearly any other subculture in our era… Here "Street" became High Fashion and Grunge started to appear on every Haute Couture fashion "Catwalk" event here and in Europe...

Again thank you so much for sharing roxiemarty, your efforts with this group bring back many wonderful memories...
FYI: I'm a major fan of on-camera fill flash also... Just the perfect touch to bring out beautiful skin tones...
Btw, I actually lived in Pendleton Oregon in the 1980's … The beauty of that region is huge… enough said…
.
Best Holiday wishes to all...

Thanks Thomas for your thoughts. They called it "Buffalo Plaid". I thought it looked fine, if that was what they wanted. Some people just don't get it I guess.

Last year I came across a family gathering all wearing the same kind of shirts. In speaking with one of the members, I was informed that they have been having gatherings where all wore the same type of shirts going back over three generations. It was something decided back then so that family knew that they were family. Also, prior to the meet, back then, they had sewing meets for the women, for the most part, to make the shirts for their respective nuclear group. I could imagine that it may have been an outgrowth of the Scottish Clan plaids traditions. As one who never knew his folks from the old world, especially my mother's, I envied them a little bit. But I was happy for them for it was clear that they felt a sense of kinfolk.

We have a friend who has made a fetish of lumberjack plaid shirts. Specific sub-design depends on the occasion. Don't know if she has a church-specific style design though.
