Interior view of building. Sony a6300, shutter 1/60, f/4, focal length 23 mm (16-50 kit lens). Improvements?

Try cropping off left of fireplace. Focus on fireplace and stairs.

Hmmm.-- Perhaps if you could run his though some software that has perspective correction so that the verticals along both sides are parallel to the edges of the photo?
Polarr Photo Editor Pro, Luminar 2018, and perhaps Elements 12, among many others, have that capability.

HMMM! I tried both LUMINAR and PolarPhoto Editor Pro and the result was pixellation of the left 1/2 of the photo (Polar) and unable to find again the filter in LUMINAR that corrects distortion. Don't know why I failed with both softwares since I've had previous successes correcting prospective with both. Anyway, I'm confident that it can be done, and cannot afford to send more time on my futile attempts. Let me wish you better luck than I had.

Personally, I love the composition as is. It shows the fireplace in its total environment and that can make for a nice photograph. Not so well versed in pp, but is there something you can use to make all those lovely browns pop just a bit more?

I like it and have no improvements to suggest.
