I first visited Bodie in 1972 and it still looks almost the same today. These are from last May.

Beautiful black and white. It really works here. I am puzzled however by the "2" to the left of the stairs in photo of church.

I think that "2" is a site marker put there by the Park Service or whoever the agency is that protects that site. They mark a self guided tour map that describes each stop on the map.

Yes they do have a map for a self guided tour. You can only go into the mine on a guided tour however. Here is a photo of the actual mine.
