Think I will stay with B&H.

Yes, there is no comparison between the two, and with B&H there are no endless lines to stand in to return something and get to pay the restocking fee.

I bought my Nikon D7100 from a local Best Buy.... I ordered it online & picked it up at the store. I know more about cameras & photography than any of their employees, thus I had no reason to shop in store...Yes, some stores have better selections than others. I had to drive to a store over in Kennesaw as my local store did not have the model I wanted...

I bought my last two DSLRs from our local Best Buy. The first one I bought, I found out I could order online, save $100 over the in-store price, and pick it up at the service desk (saved me time and $100). One of those quirky deals on line that year I suppose.

Last year I replaced the broken previous camera after five years' of service and the model I wanted was not in stock so I paid for it in the store and had it sent to the house. Two days later I get a ding on my phone and I look at the message which said that Best Buy just delivered my package. I thought no they didn't else I would've heard a knock on the door or the doorbell or at least the dogs going ballistic. I got up out of my recliner, unlocked the front door, and there is the package from Best Buy. I certainly didn't like that they would drop off an $1800 package without a signature though! They sure racked up some sales from us last year - a new laptop for me and a new refrigerator besides the camera. Felt like I should buy stock in the company after all that.

You probably had an unnoticed option to require a signature when you placed the order.

I discovered that Best Buy...specifically the one near the Mall of Georgia, NE of Atlanta..has a very large selection of cameras on display to handle.

I had been looking at adding a smaller camera for travel....reading reviews...watching YouTube videos. I pretty much ruled out all the cameras I handled.

I also handled most of the DSLR’s I could have an interest in....and decided I didn’t want to hike 5 miles with a full frame camera.

With camera stores being almost as hard to find as phone booths, I thought someone might find this information helpful. I would think that some Best Buy stores in other areas would have similar displays. And yes, I would consider buying from Best Buy, when and if I decide on a new camera.

I get it that the main selling point for DX format gear is that it's lighter in weight. Where the hell have all the real women and men gone? I'm 75 years old and still relish going out with a D810 and an AF-S 80-200mm f2.8 D-about 6 pounds total. I can rely on getting a few great images every time without having to think about cropping out pixels, adjusting for a level horizon, or any of the other disadvantages (and I think they are legion) of DX format.

Most Best Buy stores have limited displays and even less knowledgeable sales people....but can't hurt to look

This once a "real man" toured SE Asia at age 75 (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Burma) with a Nikon D700 with 17-35 f/2.8 on one shoulder and a Nikon D800 with 70-200 f/2.8 on the other shoulder. Now, the real man at 80 turned sissy (in your view) has come to his senses, sold the Nikons, and carries a Fuji X-T2 on one shoulder and a Fuji X-T3 on the other shoulder. I am trying really hard to think of the "legion" of disadvantages I suffered on my recent trip to Borneo, Java and Bali, but all I can think of is the wonderful pictures I took and the relief of not dealing with bulky FF Pro zoom lenses.

Was there yesterday for the same reason. Did you decide on a camera?

I decided to go with what I use now, mainly a Nikon D7100, Nikon D5500, Nikon D5200 and my IPhone. I don’t really need any other camera for what I do, mostly landscapes.

You may want to check out Showcase Photo at 2323 Cheshire Bridge Road in ATL. They carry a lot of inventory and let me try out some lenses on my camera.

Thank you for this information.

Best Buy is hit or miss in my area. In one suburban store they have only point and shoot cameras. In another store they have a large display of Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic and Fuji camera’s, and most popular lenses. One thing they do consistently is push their extended warranties, even after you tell them you are not interested. My preferences are still Cameta, B&H, and Adorama because their sales staffs seem to be more knowledgeable.

Let's say Best Buy has the camera you want for $1739 and the places with the more knowledgeable staff has the same camera for $1768, which store will you purchase the camera from? The one with the better price or the one with the better employees?

The 15% restock fee is a recent policy change. I bought my Nikon D7500. X-T2 and X-T3 from Best Buy. They have a 18 month same as cash plan for purchases over 500.00 now. Or 5% back. And an extended period for returns being the holiday season.I talked to the salesperson about the restock fee. He said they were getting too many people "buying to try" and had a lot of returns. If the equipment is faulty there is no restock fee. I'm ok with that. However their extra insurance for "drops and spills" is quite expensive.
