Currently my walk around lens is the Nikkor 16-80 f/2.8-4.

How about Tamron 45mm prime USD VC? I just got one and it is awesome. More fun than my Sigma zoom 17-50 USM OS. I think prime lenses are making comeback. I should know, I own 24mm, 35mm, 45mm, 50mm, 85mm, 90mm and 105mm among few zoom lenses.

I just got it few days ago Tamron 45 USM VC 1.8. Super sharp, fun to work with. having prime with Vibration control (new generation good for about 4 f stops) is awesome. I also have Canon 35 USM IS Macro prime lens. Next on my list is a lens around 100mm with IS.

If I could have only ONE, it would be the Canon 1200mm, so I could shoot small birds with aplomb!!!
I'm tired of those dinky lenses!!!

That is easy I have a Tamron 150-500mm and Kenko 2x Teleconverter 1000mm all together, plus crop factor on the cmos that is way over 1200mm

My personal choice is my Nikon 18-140 3.5-5.6 DX lens on my Nikon D3300, I do not have the available funds to acquire a better, faster "Walk-around" lens.

I do not think you can get a much better walk-around lens than the 18-140 DX, imho it is a great lens.

My goto lens is a 24-70mm f2.8 on my Nikon D800. For hiking, I use a Nikon 28-105mm f3.5-4.5D lens. The lens is over 20-years old and sells used for about $150. It is sharp, lite weight and it is good for landscapes and portraits. If it gets damaged, it costs less to replace than to fix. Just what I want for an environment where there is an elevated risk of damage.

I don’t know for sure, but I’m thinking that my recently purchased Fuji 80 mm Macro, might be good to “walk-around with” but If I bring along the 2X converter, I should be in FAT-CITY.. Will try that tomorrow, here in South Carolina. Might post a couple.... BOB

Sounds like a good combo. I had the 18-200 on a 50D. It was a good setup and I know the 7D is a lot better.
