While looking at this photo on my IPad, a covered bridge built in 1860, I thought about what had occurred to make this photo possible:
1. The bridge was built in 1860, using an 1830 Patent, adding strength through a series of hand-driven wedges.
2. We were invited for Thanksgiving by relatives in Troy, Ohio.
3. I checked Trip Advisor for local sights.
4. I took the photo with my cell phone, after using GPS to find the bridge.
5. I used Snapseed for PP on my IPad.
6. The photo is my new temporary wallpaper on my IPad.
We take a lot for granted these days......Lewis and Clark would have loved Trip Advisor and cell phones.
Nice shots and commentary.
Nice shots. Would have loved to see pictures of the wedges. A technological advance for that time!
We do take so much for granted. When I was young, to shoot video, you would have to buy a £1,000 video camera. The best you might have in terms of editing would be copying from one cassette to another. No fancy fades or music. The video quality by today's standards was poor, and there was no social media to share it on. Hence most people didn't own one. In terms of photography, most people owned a compact camera. The majority of these had no real focussing, as only people who were more serious about photography would spend the extra on a good camera. Then there were those Kodak or Fuji envelopes. Wonder how many people wonder what I'm talking about. 😊

Thank you. Here is a placard from the site that goes into more detail on the bridge.
I used to have to send off postcards to inquire about destinations that I was interested in traveling to. Now I just fire up Google and TripAdvisor to say nothing of accessing personal reports of travelers. As a kid, I would go to the movies every Saturday afternoon where we would drive the "matron" crazy by shooting paper clips at the screen. Now I lean back in my recliner and watch movies every night on a 65" OLED TV with a surround sound system. Since I'm only 5' away from the screen it's just like a movie theater minus people talking and rattling candy wrappers.

Very nice and thanks for the reminders on technology. However I'll bet L & C would have loved GPS even more than Trip Advisor....
Nice image. I also use Snapseed, and iGoogle did a good thing when they bought NIK.
