I purchased the X-T3 - It will be here Dec 3rd.

My question for anyone that has this camera and is into video- can you share your video settings? Or recommend a good source for same?

If you are using this camera for wildlife what lens are you using with it and are you happy with your settings?

I know these are a lot of questions for such a newly released camera but any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

On YouTube, check out videos by Kevin Mullins and Damian Brown regarding the X-T3 and Fuji cameras in general.

Morning from a grey and misty UK !

You beat me to a T3 purchase and I think you'll love it ! Video's not really my thing, but I've got a spare half hour to look up some potentially helpful T3 video posts for you. Only you can decide whether they're for you or not ......

You may not need this fella's rig, but video's his thing ........ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZANTZ5nRGxhgCQQrVeQbng/videos

Maarten's videos are really explanatory ...... look at his T3 videos and also his video settings for X-H1 which have got to have many similarities with the T3 ......https://www.youtube.com/user/MaarTech/videos

This guy's a landscape photographer and fully conversant with T2 and T3 ....... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fj48QagnAk

This chap is a well-known reviewer and has lots of experience with video from mirrorless cameras. Fuji's one of his favourites ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgWSb4B9iwk&t=124s

That should keep you busy for a while ! Enjoy !

My knowledge of "digital video" you could fit on a postage stamp ! How's yours? For fun I Googled "Understanding Digital Video" ....... https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Understanding+digital+video

You may be up to your neck with T3 reviews ....... but this guy's style is easy-going and well-explained ...... he's a pro and this is a lovely location on the north-east coast of England, my home area ....... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yc7evXFjvRY

Try this guy he has a lot of good stuff on his you tube video's, it will help with Fuji camera's operations and general shooting as well. A big plus is he is funny too.

Hey Thanks Craggy!!

I will look at the links you so kindly provided. I found some of my own as well. There are some really "unique" presenters on Utube and the information can be different from video to video but I will plough through. I also hooked up with two Facebook groups that may provide ongoing help too. One is Fuji X... video users group and the other is Fuji X... wildlife users (compliments of GoofyNewfie). If you are interested in either group I will provide the links.

How knowledgable am I about video? Not very but I love it. I like to keep video and video editing simple. You can spend really big bucks on extraneous video equipment. And I am not really all that tech savvy when it comes to the details. I got into video when I owned the Panasonic GX8 camera with the 100-400 mm lens. But when the lens died I got rid of my Panasonic equipment. The Panasonic camera's video mode was easy to use, provided excellent video with basic knowledge. The continuous auto focus was very effective. I got very spoiled. I did most of my video on tripod but it was hand holdable. I considered upgrading to the Panasonic GH5 but frankly I was pissed at Panasonic's lack of customer service and had just taken a big financial hit so it was hard to then turn around and purchase more Panasonic products.

Then I got hooked by Fuji IQ and customer service and so.... here we are. Just from what little I've done with Fuji X-T2 video I have found it to be very smooth with the color we have all come to love. BUT I don't know if it's my settings or what but I struggle with the continuous auto focus going in and out. I know that serious video people mostly use manual focus but I'm not there- yet.

I hope you try video with your camera- whether the X-T2 or X-T3. But be careful- you might get hooked :)

Do you intend to use a gimbal ? The Ronan S comes highly recommended

I would appreciate your links. I have XT2 and probably will be getting the 3. I am still looking at the XH1. Had you considered that one ? I need 2 bodies, so may try to sell the XT2 and get 2 of the 3 — or 3 plus XH1.

It's so nice to be made to feel that one's efforts to assist are appreciated.

I think I've shied away from having a go at video 'cos I know nothing about video editing nor have any (even basic) software. Some of these YouTubers spend an awful long time on editing, I understand. I guess my 23mm f1.4 lens might be quite good for video. I've got a Joby Gorillapod (from DSLR days) ....... would that be OK for hand-holding my T2 in video mode? I've long been in touch with goofynewfie (often outside UHH) and we have good chats about Nikon and Fuji. He's had a change in circumstances of late which are causing him to look perhaps a little more seriously at Fuji. And yeah, I'm not bad, for my age and approach to social media, with fb, but not being into video, have yet to look at the groups you mention. But I will !

I've long known that Panasonic is good for video and we are well-informed by Burke on this site. Shame about your experiences with the company, 'cos heaven knows chopping and changing systems gets heavy on the pocket. I'm determined to stick with only one system. So if/when I venture into video I'll see what's available from Fuji. I think I've read that continuous AF on the T3 is pretty good, so hopefully problem solved for you !

I follow a guy on YouTube (young Canadian with lovely German girl-friend) who is a digital nomad. He and his girl make some really good videos (Panny GH5 and a drone) which are well worth watching not only for the geographical content, but also his video techniques. Any new video user would, I'm sure, enjoy watching his posts....... https://www.youtube.com/user/Gregorsnell/videos ....... some great stuff about Patagonia, for example.

Whatever you do, and however you do it, have fun !

Hey Mike, Cat Marley on this site, myself and Suntouched herself might be "on yer back" before long. Here's 3 of us, and there's lots more, who, having put their toe into Fuji waters, find ourselves using Nikon less and less and even ditching Nikon altogether.

The word on the street is that it "puts the fun back into our hobby" ...... yeah !

I sold my D500 with several lenses and now have the X-T3 and love it. I haven’t done video yet as I am more of a stills shooter.

Update-
I am still wading through the links you all provided but so far Maarten Heilbron on Utube has been the most helpful (thanks Craggy). He is very straightforward and to the point which I appreciate. He has a video on how to set up the Fuji X-T2 if anyone is interested in getting the best video from that camera. Also there are two groups on FB that post pictures, videos and answer questions- Fuji Wildlife and sports and Fuji Filmmakers. I think by browsing FB Fuji groups you will be easily able to find those groups and perhaps others that appeal even more. I have found FB groups to be very valuable- much more so than its social medial function.

There is a lot of information out there but some of it is wildly contradictory, very technical and complicated. You can easily spend thousands of dollars for stabilizing equipment, external microphones, special lenses, special equipment, editing programs etc. For me, I just wanted to be able to make simple videos- done well.

As a side note-

Seems like the best lenses are the primes for video. It just so happens that I collect vintage lenses and adapters. I went through my collection yesterday and found 3 Nikon and 2 Pentax lenses that work especially well with the Fuji with an adapter. Of course that puts you into manual focus. But the X-T2 has great manual focus assist. I am playing with a Nikon 135 mm lens that is video friendly with wonderful optics. So don't discount those old lenses.

PS- my Fuji X-T3 will arrive tomorrow :)

I have been seeing some spectacular images and good reviews from the new Nikon mirrorless cameras. If I was going full frame I would seriously consider either one of them but especially the Z6 which is relatively affordable. The Fuji will serve you well too of course.

Thanks for your reply. I currently shoot both FF and cropped with Nikon bodies and have several lenses both cropped and FF. It would make sense to stay with Nikon, but I am intrigued by the Fujifilm XT3 and all of the positive comments from former Nikon users. It is probably G.A.S. though!
