The Gray seal can be distinguished from the smaller harbor seal by its straight head profile, widely set nostrils and fewer spots on its body. Adult males (bulls) can measure up to 11 feet long and weigh nearly 900 pounds in the species’ western Atlantic range. Adult females (cows) are smaller, measuring up to 6 feet and weighing as much as 550 pounds.

The Amur Tiger is reddish-rusty, or rusty-yellow in color, with narrow black transverse stripes. It has an extended supple body standing on rather short legs with a fairly long tail.

This image shows the upper limits of the EOS 5DIII when shooting at ISO-6400 and processing the results extensively from an original dark image. My success above ISO-5000 on this model has been limited and I've avoided situations where the light is too dark to capture a useful image.

Once found widely throughout Africa's savannas, African painted dogs are now limited to small ranges within sub-Saharan Africa.

Sisters Zalika and Kamali joined the resident male Sahar in August 2015. The female lions arrived from the Oregon Zoo and the male came from the Brooklyn Zoo after the two resident lions at the LPZ passed away from old age.

Another fine set Paul. I always enjoy your posts as they usually contain a good write up to go with the photos...

Looks like you got snow in Chicago already....I do not miss it at all.....

Thank you Ken, Bruce, Tradio, W90D, CPR, Frank, Bill! I just finished 2-days at wonderful zoos in Florida, but it will be weeks before that work is edited and ready for sharing. Hopefully, some older work from the archives, such as these images, will continue to be of interest. Glad you enjoyed.

Always love your Zoo shots. Makes me want to jump in the car, and go in there. It’s been a while.
