Hi all,
I've done some research and I'm seriously considering purchasing this flash unit. I would appreciate some guidance on it if anyone knows about it. The reviews on Amazon are very good. I'm an amateur and take mostly outdoor/wildlife shots. I do some band/concert photos as well and will use it occasionally. Not sure I can justify a pricey Nikon unit but the one that came with my kit is kind of a joke. The onboard flash is better.
Anyone know anything about this setup?

The issue on buying a flash is the trigger voltage is compatible with your camera. If the voltage is too high it can cook your electronics. I would contact Altura and ask them if it is compatible with your D5600

It should be compatible, it's a new model- not from film era.
I've seen MT Shooter recommend this brand and he sells them at his store: Camera Cottage.
Personally- I'm into the Godox system- I shoot a lot with of off-camera flash.

Thanks for the reply. Valid point and honestly, I didn't check. We're just outside of St. Louis and it really isn't very close to us. if I get good feedback I might check to see if they have it.

They may have an alternative....or even a used Nikon flash. Hard to beat a Nikon SB speedlight, even used. Should give them a call.

The remote tigger and receiver included in the Amazon deal is strictly manual. You’ll have to use trail and error and adjust to get the right exposure.

I do my best to use natural light sometimes with a reflector, but decided I needed a decent flash for a particular shoot. When I went looking for one that could be used on and off camera I started at my local camera shop and talked to a guy who knows Nikon. He showed me Nikon products, but asked if I wanted to save some money. SURE! So he pointed me to the Shanny SN600SN ttl knock offs. I picked one up along with a wireless remote kit although they will trigger off my D7200s internal flash. I used it for a couple of months and really liked it. Ended up picking up a 2nd one, so I've got a 3 light setup using the internal on the D7200. Don't know how long they will last, but I am pleased with how they work so far. I've tried them on my D800 and they work fine. You might want to check out some Shanny reviews.

I think the Nikon SB-5000 is a good flash and is fully compatible with the Nikon D5600.

No, it's not a good flash.
I have one.
It's a GREAT flash!!! But at nearly $600, the SB 5000 might be ovekill for an occasional user and is not FULLY compatible - the D-5600 can't use the radio control capability the flash has.
The D5600 won't take the WR-R10 wireless remote controller and adapter needed.

Hate when these posts get buried in Links and Resources just because there's a link in the first entry!

Most of the time but there are at times surprises. I bought a FlashPoint battery and 360 flash last year from Adorama. I believe B&H sells the same units under the Godox label. The battery pack is almost inexhaustible! I have used it on a number of shoots and have never exhausted it past one of five level lights going off. I believe you could easily get 1500 - 2000 shots from one charge. The flash is also very good and powerful. I have cords for both the FlashPoint speed light and to use with my Nikon Flash units. I have 4 SB800's, an SB600, units from Sunpack, Nissin, and Phottix Metros. I would put these Flashpoint/Godox units up against any of them and the units are not expensive. I bought two of the battery packs for 99.00 each and one of the 360 units. I mistakenly bought two battery packs thinking a long shoot would require a backup battery -- one battery pack was sufficient. I purchased the flash on sale for 139.00 and was hoping to acquire another one but they have not gone back on sale. The regular price is 299.00 for the flash alone ---- but get this --- the sale this year is for the flash + battery pack. Both are on sale for 259.00, 40.00 less than just the flash alone. Although I could get along without the third battery pack I ordered one. I guess it never hurts to have a backup. I have never used any of the Yongnuo flash units but there are a lot of people on this site that swear by those units as well and they are priced from 69.00 to 159.00 depending on the size and attributes they have. It's easy to say you get what you pay for, but if you do your homework and listen to advise from first hand users, you can often get more for your money than just paying extra for the name.
