I've watched Dr. Ross several times and have talked to numerous folks who are old-earthers and the underlying theme in their error is that they don't start with the bible and go from there...they start with something else and then attempt to harmonize the bible with that.

Just as well our salvation does not depend on whether we believe in a young or old Earth!

Not directly however it IS an authority issue.
For the Christian, the Word of God is authoritative and thus is not compatible with evolution or millions of years and such. If a person sees man's fallible ideas about the age of the universe as authoritative, then that IS a problem.
It's impossible to get "millions of years" from the text itself, it must be imported into the text.
Last year Ken Copeland visited heaven and God told him the earth is 8467 years and six months and 3 days old. That was last year so you would have to do the math to figure out how old it is exactly today. Just kidding! Blessings Bob
