A very enjoyable tour! I appreciated the wide overview of #1. #3 is an engaging composition with the winding road and the tree struggling to survive the harsh environment. Fun to see the sunken boat still tied to the shore in the last shot. Do you ever create stitched panoramas? Might have been interesting to see what's outside the frame of the last, since both sides have boats that are only partially shown.

Thanks for commenting, Linda. It would have been nice to get all of the boats in in the last one. I was at the limits of my lens and doing a panorama didn't occur to me. The overall composition is centred on the channel formed by the inlet, so perhaps a panorama might have detracted from the sense of depth created by the composition as shown.

Thanks for commenting, Karin. That's some fairly typical autumnal weather for that area.

I enjoyed them all for the tour! The light in Loch Torridor photo is really spectacular. You have some elements of interest in the water of the foreground, which I think is a good thing. Then, when we get to the mountains, especially in download of course, the detail is amazing and beautifully lit. The shot of Loch Maree is very appealing. I find the elements that hold the most interest for me are in the background with the mist. In the third shot you have that prominent s-curve of the road to bring us right to that great mountain that dominates; but is still complimented by the foreground. Really nice landscapes here.

Thanks for your comments, Erich. Glad you enjoyed the tour. To begin with I wasn't sure if a series of shots like this was appropriate for this section, especially since there's a diversity of styles and no attempt to convey a consistent sense of place. But what they all have in common is the forethought that went into their composition. I'm not claiming that they're all wonderful examples of that, but the point is they don't have to be. Just one or two composition techniques, thoughtfully implemented, can be enough to lift a shot above the level of holiday snapshot. And I believe that justifies posting them here. One of my favourite Gallery posters who composes thoughtfully like that is Geoff (GWR100).

Very effective tour. Makes me want to grab my camera and fly over. I like the light and soft colors but the Hyundai ....?

Thank you GK. The Hyundai was just for fun (but that's a glimpse of a typical Caledonian forest).

A really enjoyable group. For being thoughtfully composed, and completely without pretense.

Glad you enjoyed, Mark. (I'm not sure how I'd go about being pretentious, even if I wanted to be ).
