I used an iPad with my Phantom 3 but opted for the 4 Pro+ with its built-in screen and 1" sensor for my latest drone.
The 4 Pro+ screen is bright enough to be used if the sun isn't shining directly on it. I found the iPad screen good if shaded. An iPhone (of any type) was just too small for my aging eyes!

Thank you for the help guys I think for cost/performance I will go with the Samsung Tab 2

I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 with my DJI Phantom three. It has a brightness setting to cope with the sunlight, but the screen is still highly reflective and problematic in bright sunshine. I decided to custom build a six inch deep hood for it, but that didn’t resolve the problem so I built a deeper one that still didn’t help. My newest creation is more of a tapered snoot. It’s sixteen inches long, enclosed on all sides, with an opening on the bottom near the screen that allows for camera adjustments. My end is covered with a thin piece of black foam that has a single one inch round hole. This hood works great with the reflection gone when my eye is pressed against the foam. Now I need to build a more durable hood out of high density quarter inch foam.
As my grand kids are on apple the deciding was Facetime but the newest Ipad has good brightness also !!!!
Thanks again for all suggestions
