I am a novice wondering what's a good easy editing software. I mostly do high school sports
Thanks
The best for free is Faststone. GIMP is free but not easy to learn. On1 is a really nice one-time purchase editor that I use and love. There are many out there.
Picasa 3 stand alone its free
"I'm a novice..." doesn't say much!
Your computer should have a photo app. In windows 10 it is "Photos" and might be a good place to do basic adjustments like cropping and exposure adjustment.
Another that I like a lot is Adobe Photoshop Express. It is free and has some good basic tools.

Hi. This is an endless question on this site and I think you can search the site for many, many answers. There is no one size fits all with software and all of it has a learning curve, which depends on how well you "pick up" software. There are many good software applications and several serve very different functions. Determine what you want from a software package and then do the research online. Be wary about recommendations from others as their goals may be different than your goals. In general, people often use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, ON1, Luminar, PhaseOne Capture One Pro, Affinity Photo, Photoshop Elements, and DxO. You need to research these applications and others based on your personal needs. Here is one link, you can find many others with a web search:

My choice would be Luminar 2018. It's easy to use. It's reasonably priced at $69. There are a lot of videos on You Tube that will show you how to use the software
Luminaria 2018, easy to use, one off price, and lots of YouTube, try Jim Nix
Check with the MFG of your camera and use that SW to start. Nikon and Canon both have decent software to use and it is free and so are upgrades. Can't speak for the other mfg's but I would surmise that they do this also.
For ease of use, Luminar is a great choice and can be used as a plug-in if you ever decide to take the plunge with Photoshop and Lightroom.

I was the same as you a couple of years ago with very little editing experience. I tried many editors and got frustrated with how difficult they are to learn and use. I finally found one that is free and easy to use but is limited in what it does. it will do all the normal light, color, sharpening, etc. so it may be enough for you. It is Adobe Photoshop Express and it can be used on almost any platform from Mac or PC to phone or tablet. When I outgrew that one and wanted something more powerful and professional level for editing I searched again with a little more experience and knowledge and found that of all the "you buy it once and own it" editors, Luminar is the easiest to master and use and it is a very powerful editor that should do anything you need to do now and into the future.
I started with Photoshop Elements and still use it, about $70. But you can’t be a computer novice for using any editing software.

Agreed. I use PSE 2018 that does everything I want to do in PP, which on sale is about 60 bucks. Two other FREE post processing programs that are quite good are; Topaz Studio and Faststone Image Viewer. If I were a Pro, (or a wannabe) I would probably let myself get sucked into the Adobe PS/LR $10 monthly rental plan. Decide just what you want to do and go from there with some research on PP programs, which Jerry has kindly provided links to. One size doesn't fit all, that's why there is a plethora of programs out there.
