That is really nicely done. I also like the composition. On a subjective note, I find it to be just a tag overexposed. That, however, is not a technical or composition issue. That is purely personal preference.

Nice composition. When I visited (some years ago) it was on a more typical Scottish day, wouldn't have thought it was the same place!

Im guessing you kept the global highlights toned down to prevent the skyline and contrast in the branches to overly dominate, allowing the eye to roam the view more easily. That is some fine country. Hope it stays that way for a long time.

Thank you Linda. I'm forever on the lookout for natural framing, leading lines or channels to guide the eye.

Thank you Erich. I risked my suspension parking off of the tarmac at a passing place (where you're NOT supposed to park, but if it's quiet and if it's a large passing place and you're mostly off of the tarmac, nobody should mind. I was also quick) to get to that viewpoint. Bright sunshine is so not guaranteed in the west that I shamelessly take full advantage of it when I get it.

Thank you John. This was a lucky break in the weather (for October anyhow). The summer months can be mostly bright and sunny but if it's too hot, haze becomes a problem.

You surmise correctly, fergmark. Keeping the highlights and whites reined in is my standard tactic for dealing with glare or haze. The scene wasn't badly hazy but it wasn't as sharp as you see in the photo. I also used contrast and clarity globally but went over parts of the sky and the branches to back off with the contrast to make them less eye-catching. I share your sentiment that the west coast should stay unspoiled.
