I am retired and an avid amateur photographer with a special interest in Nikon equipment. My side project right now involves exploring ccd sensor based cameras from the 2000-2012 era. I would like to get a nikon d1 h or x model with battery and charger that is in decent condition.

If you have one you are willing to sell in the $50-$80 range let me know. That budget is dictated by a fixed income.

Thank you.
Jeff

I know how to Google and I have examined all the offerings on eBay for a while. Your response is presumptious and a waste of both our time.

If you don't have a camera to sell please save your patronizing advice for your own children.

I must apologize because I did not intend my reply to come across like that.
I just quickly looked to see if there was any still out there as a curious courtesy for you.
If this is how you respond to people on this site, so be it, you being a 'newbie' , will find that that this attitude will not get you far.
Many replies from members to members waver off point to some degree.
May your bitterness turn to peace.

Hi Zeitguy,

I have read all responses, and feel that your reply back to Zeitguy was totally uncalled for. If you didn't find it useful...just move on.

(I just can't wait to read your condescending remark back to me! <big grin>)

Good luck on finding a functional battery. My final solution was to go to Batteries Plus where they rebuild the batteries.

If that's not helpful, then you truly are the asshole you appear to be on helpful hints.

That was incredibly rude of YOU. Someone tried to help you in your search for a cheap camera and you shut him down with rudeness. Don't be surprised if most members tell you to suck an egg. You well deserve it. Do your own look and don't bother us with your trivialities.

By the way, Suck an Egg,

Dennis

Thanks for the clarification. It helps. I have been on the internet since 1986 usenet days and if someone seems patronizing they usually are. You clearly aren't. And you probably know the frustration of getting patronizing-sounding advice yourself. Fwiw I was on ugly hedgehog years ago and we couldn't find my account, and I have been on a dozen other substantial online communities as moderator, newbie, and everything else but troll. I am not bitter, but I have a hair-trigger now for bogus. Maybe I need to dial a little slack back into my perception.

The graciousness of your reply reminds me that the infosphere is still populated by decent, distracted humans worthy of a considerate reply. Thanks.

Sir;
Thank you for the kind reply. It did warm my heart that you understood my intent.
I read the new daily posts when they hit at 4:30am most of the time as I did yours and being still in bed and not fully coherent, I just kinda jumped the gun without fully re-reading and thinking about a reply or not.
I see that a member has offered to gift you the device you are seeking and this is a real blessing and I am glad you got an offer so quick.
I also see you have a Nikon D200. I have one too, I bought it last November, my first DSLR moving up from the film Nikon N80 and various brands of digital point'n shooters. I love it. It is my learning 'training wheel' device into the modern world of DSLRs and I think I may eventually lean to the Fuji mirror less once I re-educate myself on photography. Being recently retired I now have the time to enjoy this more.
Welcome back to the forum. This site has been very helpful to me. My next step is to post something. Anyway, I wanted to thank you for your very kind reply to me.
Again; welcome back
Bruce in texas.

Ironically you have made me feel welcome here despite the sting in my first response to you.

My interest in CCDs has reached a kind of mystical level of fascination. To that, I would say: I think the Nikon D200 is pretty special. If it was the only camera I could use I wouldn't mind, and I have used the best you can find commercially. It pains me that people with perfectly good imaging instruments literally "lose sight" of their love of photography when numbers get thrown around. Enjoy what you have, and others will too!

Your civility will make everyones day a little brighter.

Don't worry about the sting, that was yesterday. From what I have seen from some members here, sometimes it looks like a monkey shit fight between them but the next day or so it became all past and forgotten.
You obviously are a very intelligent and a well experienced man and your input can and should be very welcome and needed here.
Yup. this site to me is like a large round table with all the members from around the world sitting together with plenty of whiskey, wine and beer. And you can imagine how this works out.
Thank you for the endorsement on D200. I decided to get it while re-educating myself and taking time to study the current equipment.
I am very happy with it. I got it for 147.00 bucks from a pro who bought it new and had it serviced yearly my Nikon. She sold it to me with battery, charger, and few accessories. My two existing lenses used on the N80 work just fine on it.
Looks like your DX1 hopefully will be in your hands soon.
Again, welcome back,
b

This intrigues me.
I had a D200 and looked at the images recently.
They look a bit different, but I can't quite put my finger on how.
So it's the CCD.
