I currently shoot a Canon 5D Mk II with 154,000 clicks. It is working fine. The only thing I don’t like about it is the 9 point focusing system. I would like to buy another new or newer updated camera and will probably keep my current camera as a back up.
Glass is not an issue as My wife shoots Nikon with fx glass. Also I want to stay with a full size format sensor unless someone can talk me out of it! I’ve done a fair amount of research. Budget is $1600. I have it narrowed down to the following based on current prices:
Canon 6D $995
Canon 6D MK II $1599
Nikon D750 $1396
5D MK III $1550 used 8500 clicks
Please let me know what your opinions are and thanks in advance for your guidance

Adorama has just announced their Black Friday sales on Nikon equipment. Might want to take a look. There are some very attractive bundles available on the D750.
https://www.adorama.com/g/nikon-dslr-camera-sale-holiday-2018Might be able to revise your list a little...
I'm sure you can find a Nikon D810 that is in your price range. At worst a Nikon D800E. A D750 is okay but it is not a D810 by any means.

They have some attractive D810 bundles as well, but they are above the budget. There are a lot of used D810s on the market, and I agree that would be a nice choice.

Of the list you posted, either the D750 or the 5D3 would be my choice, depending on what glass I had for each. Both are pro level solid workhorses used by pros everywhere (which should tell you something).
That price I showed on the D750 was new from B&H today on their sale. Nikon has it listed for that as well. All those prices I showed are new except the used 5D mkII. Thanks!

Meant to say used 5D MK III

MPB has a used D810 for $1599 with 12,000 clicks. Thanks for mentioning the D810

Unless your 5DII breaks, keep saving until you can make a major jump in Canon technology and move into a 5DIV. Say in 6-months or maybe this time next year, you'll find plenty at a discount against a new version.

I have the 5D iii which I loved and keep as back up. I also own the the 5D iv, and a 5DS that I use for mostly landscapes. All three are all great cameras, real work horses, and they have great weather sealing. Of your choices I would gonwith the the used 5D III. it’s used by many professionals. The 5D iv and 5DS are large steps up from the III however.

I would make up my own mind and be done with it. This is your decision based on your research. Someone suggests the Nikon and 4 months later you need a $400.00 repair. What then???
