Too many families know this saddness.
Been through this. Brings back pleasant and painful memories.

It is hell to get old. One way or another. And we can keep you alive oh so much longer than ever before - for better or for worse. A patient sighed and told me yesterday: "I miss food". Thanks to smoking, his radiation therapy has destroyed his ability to swallow, so when his wife "fixes his lunch" it means she mixes up a bag of feeding solution to hang and go through his PEG tube into his stomach. "I don't sit at the table with my family while they eat anymore because it just makes me sad" he added.
My mother-in-law succumbed to this dreadful malady. To me it is worse than cancer because it can take to long for them. Plus you have no ideal what they are going through.
I just saved this image for if and when I get diagnosed and before my capabilities fade. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, horrible for the afflicted. Can’t imagine the fear as the condition progresses and then so grateful that in it’s latter stages the patient may not comprehend their condition - such a blessing. Then the burden shifts to the caregiver (70% die before the patient). The financial burden is horrible then there is the daily task of watching your loved one slowly die and having to make the decision to prolong their life or allow them too pass due to preventable causes over and over again. Such is my wife and life of 60 years.
My heart and prayers are with you. My father-in-law forced himself to stay alive to take care of her until she pasted.
Been there. Took care of my husband 13 years. He died in my arms from blood clot to the brain 5 years ago. Just now getting a grip. I was soooo tired and didn't even realize it.
My mom is going through this right now. It's a sad situation for a loved one.
