Lens repair recommendations?

Hello all,
I have an Err 01-Communication error that I have isolated to my Canon 15-85mm lens by attaching the lens to a different body. I have contacted Canon for the repair but I am curious if this group might recommend another repair site that might be preferred for cost and repair quality. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

For a lens that can be purchased used for $400, I'd establish a price threshold on what to spend on a repair before simply looking for a replacement. You may find a 3rd party shop has a $200+ minimum, regardless of the actual problem.

Where are you located? If you're in the SW, there are several really good fix-it shops in the Phoenix area. One of our members up in Montana does repairs, I believe. He might be a good contact.

Thank you Chg Canon, I also thought about purchasing a used replacement. I guess I have to find out what the repair cost is. Piece of mind is worth a couple hundred bucks.

Thank you AzPicLady, I live in Minnesota. I have not tried too hard to find a local repair shop. It is worth a shot for sure.

Look up Camera Clinic next door to you in North Dakota. Have had a few “problem” cameras sent in. Excellent work for a reasonable price.
