I have a canon 7D MK II with a Sigma 150/600 Contemporary lens and downloaded some raw images using the usb cord to my laptop and after I was finished discovered I now have no autofocus any any mode. Any ideas?

make sure the lens is in AF mode-not over-ride or manual. I have the same body and lens, and have found that when the lens is in manual over-ride, it will not AF.

First, have you tried a different lens to determine if it is the camera or lens?

Check the AF switches and try a different lens. Clean the contacts on lens and camera.

If any of the above ideas do not work, try going from shutter button focus to BBF or visa versa. good luck.

Clean the contacts on the lens and make sure you hear and feel the click when putting the lens on the body. Try another lens.

When handling a camera and lens to do out of ordinary things, it can be very easy to bump or change switches that you don't intend to. I'm not familiar with your system, but on my equipment, it is very easy to change the AF to a different mode without realizing what I've done. Now that I know, I am better at avoiding this, but it was not alsays so. (Several years ago, I was suddenly missing my focus assist light and finally figured out that I had switched to continuous focus mode, which does not use the light.)

First figure out if it is the camera or the lens.

I had a similar issue. After checking everything out it turned out to be a bad third party battery pack. I purchased the canon brand and had no issues since.

I had a similar problem with my Nikon d7100. I checked all the switches, tried a couple different lenses, both Nikon and, Tamron and Sigma. I would push the exposure button half way to focus, nothing. I sent it to Nikon and they did replace the focus motor. When it came home I checked it and when I pushed the exposure button the lens would move but it still looked fuzzy in the viewfinder. The pictures looked fine on the computer but not in the viewfinder. I called Nikon and I forgot that there is a little focus adjust control next to the viewfinder. All fixed now, I hope you get it fixed soon.

Interesting. How did you narrow it down to that? Trial and error or was there a reference to this problem somewhere that indicated the battery?

Thanks for everyone’s response. I had a friend try it on his 6D and it will not autofocus on his either and his lens works on my 7D II. I am going to send it to Sigma for repair.

After taking it to a few camera shops and having no luck I called Canon. They told me to take the battery pack off and put in a single battery. After this, I had no problem with the autofocus. I then ordered the Canon battery pack from Canon.

When all else fails, ask. Or read the manual. Both are things that I have occasional problems doing.
