I am looking for software that I can install on my PC to design and create borders for my photographs. Borders seem to be the "in" thing now.
I use Lightroom 5, which is wonderful but does not create borders. And, I don't want to mess with Photoshop. I can learn Photoshop or take pictures. I don't have time for both.
Can any of you provide me with a recommendation on what to use to create and customize borders, not frames? I've seen and tried several products but ended up uninstalling them.

I would be grateful for any help with this. There must be something out there that's simple and easy to use.

Thank you

FastStone image viewer. It's free....you just have to google it and you'll find it.

That’s a question I’ve been wanting an answer to also. Thanks for asking.

Elements can add a border that's good for P.D.I. displays. I normally add 5-15 pixel count border and change colour to emphasise subject.

Since there have been few replies so far, I'll offer an online option: https://www.befunky.com/

It costs $35/year for the full version (which has no ads). You have a color picker tool, ability to change width of both inner and outer mat (including to the point of invisibility if only want single) and to curve the corners of the inner mat.

There are also some pre-sets for decorative frames, but no ability to control the look with those.

btw, for your annual $35, there are a ton of other editing tools available!

Easily done in photoshop when accessing "canvas size"...I do not use Lightroom, so not sure if it exists there, but if it does, you may find a simple solution there.

In Lightroom you can add a simple border when printing, I think. But it is nothing fancy.

In LR you can print a border for printing or for electronic use. If doing the border for electronic use you click on, under Print Job, Print to: JPEG file. You control the size just as you do for printing. Set resolution to what you want. Borders can be any color. The only border possible, unless you have loaded a border into LR (which is slow, clumsy and difficult) is a plain colored one but you can size it up to 20 points. Use Inner Stroke for the color border. Photo Border simply puts a white border between the paper edge and the image. This is in Custom Package. In Single Image/Contact Sheet mode you simply use the Stroke Border. I like ON1 for their image borders.

I have been using this for several years. Its $10 initially, it works great, you have many other options as well as border. Great LR plugin

Take a look at On 1 ver 10.5 (or actually any version), it comes with a package (several hundred) of borders for digital images.

Picasa hasn't been supported by Google for years. You can still find third-party internet sites from which to download, but I'd be very, very careful before doing that. There could be all kinds of "stuff" attached.

I still have an original Picasa 3, and it’s still working. I, too, would be wary of third-party versions.

Learning Photoshop and taking pictures are mutually exclusive. It's just another facet of photography that makes you a more complete photographer. Do you have any examples of the types of borders you'd like to create?

Nearly all border (and frame) applications use some form of layering, which either permanently attach an overlay to an image, or allow you to create an "overlay layer". Designing a custom border is a little more involved, which is why I am asking for an example of something you've seen and you'd like to re-create.

Do any of these appeal to you? Notice that there is a simple procedure for how you would do it in Photoshop.
