I've probably got a reputation here on UHH for posting avian photography...well, Friday afternoon I took more bird photos, but...
I was sitting in my car down at the beach when military jets came streaking by. The ocean around the pier was filled with boats. As I watched, I noted the the aircraft were performing precision maneuvers over the Huntington Beach Pier, about 5 miles south of my position. Upon inspection, I noted the logo of the US Air Force's Thunderbirds precision flying team on the bellies of the planes....
Their maneuvers frequently came within 1 to 1/2 mile of me, so I grabbed my Nikon D500 and Nikkor 200-500 and snapped away...knowing that I was still quite far from my subjects...they're not all in perfect focus. Here are a few of the better shots I captured. Then suddenly they were gone. Fun...

Note the Thunderbird logo alone he bottom of the plane...

A nice set.
Our Red Arrows are coming your way next summer.
You got some good shots. They where in my area a few weeks ago and I tried to get a few shots out my back door, They where to fast in my limited view being in the city, but I got a few. The last one was from early in the week and very over cast but it is my favorite
Love these. I really like seeing the bottoms. Hadn't seen them up close enough to actually see the thunderbird painting before.
VERY NICE GROUP....THANKS

Really nice series.
NMGal,
Thanks so much...for viewing and taking the time to comment. I wish I'd been a little closer because of the atmospheric distortion, but it was a fun experience. jak

Eric,
Thanks for looking and commenting. Have a great day.
Ralph,
Thanks for viewing and for sharing the link to "Sky Pilot"...a song from my youth. Being retired, I have time to be out and about and catch lucky experiences like the Thunderbird performance on Friday afternoon. Have a great week. jak

Hey Jolly,
Nice of you to view and comment. I'll keep my eyes open for the Red Arrows next year. It was fascinating to see the skilled maneuvers of these experienced pilots. jak
