Good Morning,
I am taking a business trip to Fresno, CA next week and am trying to learn if there are any places unique to the city to photograph.
I will be centered at the Doubletree Hotel, Fresno Convention Center. My free time will be in the evenings.

Any thoughts?
Thanks
George

My condolences. Perhaps you can look for Jerry Brown's folly, the bullet train from nowhere to nowhere.

At night? Not much. The Raisnettes even left town years ago. Last November returning from Arizona we stayed overnight at a quality hotel, When I asked where can I walk our dog we were advised to stay on the grounds for safety. During the walk, I was entertained watching a police activity. There were helicopters scanning an open field, while officers on foot zeroed in to apprehend, LOL, and all I had was my Glock, never thought to take the camera.
Daytime? Several. Check out the Japanese gardens, or one of the zoos.

Sounds like fun.
I would bring my CZ 9mm, however the TSA shuns the act of bringing it on the plane.
Looks like the camera gear stay's home.

Thanks

Despite all the snarky comments about California, etc., if you have the opportunity to head towards the agricultural areas, there are a lot vineyards and other photo ops here, out of town. Just be sure to stay far, far away from Mendota.

Where would you suggest within an hours drive?
Remember, I am on a business trip going from 8:00am to 6:30pm.

Well, for excitement, you could find a barbershop and watch haircuts - or find the Greyhound station, if they have one, and listen to announcements. Go to Merced (56 miles) for a bit of California history - and to get out of Fresno!

I spent a month in Fresno one weekend.

If you're flying into Fresno Yosemite International Airport, the main terminal building is
impressive, especially at twilight. Don't don't know you'd get out on the tarmac, these days.

You could check out the "5000 watt radio station" where Ted Baxter got his start...

You could hang around NAS Lemoore and shoot (not literally) F-18's and F-35's t/o's and landings if you're into a/c.....or you could go to Sequoia NP or Yosemite NP, both a little over an hour away....but then again its Fresno, sorry

NAS Lemoore has potential. What kind of access is afforded?

Unless you know someone it might be difficult....you can always go to the visitors/pass office and see what they say. Might be better to find the approach end or take off end of the runways. Even having access doesn't allow you to take photos of tactical a/c while on base. When I'm at NAS Oceana VA, even though I have total access, I always find that the approach end (off base) is best for photos. Give a try and good luck....If you like Almond farms, you in heaven, LOL.....Cheers
