From FitBit to Keenai to Ricoh to Nothing

I've been using a little FitBit to keep track of steps for a few years. Whenever it's near my computer, it would upload the data and give me a weekly report. Ricoh bought the company a while back, and last night I received an email saying that because of "profitably" concerns, they will no longer be supporting the FitBit Keenai app, and we must download all of our data by December 1. This doesn't matter much to me, but if owners of FitBit devices can't use a computer to work with their data, that could kill sales. Time will tell.

The is the main part.

"Notice of "Keenai" service termination
As previously announced Ricoh changed the operating company back in April of 2018. This was transferred for the purpose of improving profitability and investigation of business expansion.
As we pursued optimization of management resources and new strategies we examined various viewpoints of the business, such as scale of service, usage strategy and profitability and determined that it would be difficult to continue providing the Keenai service. The decision was reached to shutdown the service and to provide ample time for our users to download the data they have stored in the Keenai infrastructure.

The Keenai service will be terminated on November 30, 2018. We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers, and appreciate your kind understanding. After December 1, 2018, you will not be able to access data uploaded to your Keenai account. Please be sure to download all of your data by November 30, 2018. In order to ensure that you have the full resolution files of your data we recommend that you use the Keenai desktop application for Mac or Windows. You can find the instructions and download links here:

 Mac App: https://help.keenai.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012460331
 Windows App: https://help.keenai.com/hc/en-us/articles/360008174451

It is important to note that your data will be deleted from our servers after November 30, 2018, so it is critical that you take the steps now to download your data using the above applications. After the shutdown you will not be able to access your data in any of the Keenai applications.

Membership Cancellation:
All service will be terminated starting December 1, 2018. We are disabling auto renewal for your account, however please make sure that auto-renewing subscriptions is turned off on your account."

Sounds to me like it’s time to switch to an Apple Watch.

I clicked the link. Don't see where it has anything to do with a Fitbit. Looks like a photo storage program to me.

I use a Garmin fitness tracker and am very satisfied with it.

I have the Fitbit One. They quit supporting that a few years ago. I always thought it provided truely trivial information.
