I have been attempting to re-organize my bird files by species and these fell into a group. Each of these photos has its flaws but they do demonstrate the ratio of wing area to body mass. I have always loved that moment when these beauties push themselves up into the air. Some of these are re-works of previous posts.

These are all beautiful, Phil! I love the Snowy. It looks like it is diving upward into the air.

They were the first big bird that I could name when I was a child. I have admired their grace all of my life. Thank you for the kind comment Donna!
