I photographed another motorcycle trials last weekend near Weeping Water, NE. It was raining the entire event and the ground was too slippery to walk into the sections as I usually do with my trusty 24-70, so I used the Nifty 50 and an umbrella and shot one-handed from a distance. Mostly used 1/1000, f3.5 with auto ISO. The outer lens on the 50 is quite recessed, so it was fairly easy to keep it dry.

You are my kind of photographer......figureing out a way to get the job done and not putting your camera gear in danger. Gutsy! Good shots too.
Many years ago I used to ride trials and it's amazing how the sport has changed and the things the riders can do now. Thanks for bringing back some memories.

Thanks Brent. I used to ride trials back in the '70s and '80s. My last bike was a 350 Sherpa T which was a modern bike at that time. Now I just enjoy photographing the club (Mid-West Trials Association) events, fewer aches and pains and bruises. Yes, it has changed a lot. Back when I rode, no one ever thought about actually stopping a bike in the middle of a section, LOL.

Nice action series Jack. I was surprised to see the rider in #3. More power to him.

Thank you Jan. Actually, he was typical of most of the riders. Numbers 1, 2, and 4 were of the two best riders at the event.

Thanks CHG_CANON. Several of these "boys" were in their 70s. The club also has participants, male and female, as young as 4-5 and maybe even younger. In this country at least, trials is a genuine family sport.
