Escape...
It's happening in a prison-like Alcatraz but in a barren desert.
Because of its isolation and location, it has the reputation of never having experienced an escape.
A young prisoner has just arrived and they place him in the same cell as an old man.
Immediately, the young detainee speaks only of escape, and a few months later, he makes an attempt.
But after a week, he is taken back.
They find him in the desert, half crazy, suffering excruciatingly from thirst and hunger.
Once back in his cell, he describes his ordeal to his old cellmate:
Sand as far as the eye can see, no water, a crushing sun, no sign of life anywhere ...
The old prisoner listens for a moment then he says:
- Yeah, I know everything you tell me. I tried to escape too 20 years ago ...
The young man says:
- What? it is true ? Why didn't you tell me during all these months when I was preparing my escape?
Why did not you tell me right away that it was impossible?
And the old man responds by shrugging his shoulders:
- Have you ever seen anyone publish negative results?

Two failed tries doesn't make it impossible. Supposedly Edison tried 80 or 90 different things before he got a light bulb to last a little while.
And yes, I have seen negative results published. They can be very helpful in research.

A quitter never wins, and a winner never quits.
