Forgive my ignorance but is this a 'fast' train or just a modern looking unit. By fast I'm thinking later generation, TGV for example.

It’s not a “fast” train; just a regular locomotive with a streamlined nose. The trucks (wheel and axle assemblies) are the same as what has been on freight locomotives for decades. But it does look a little nicer.

I made a point of being at the station. However, the powers that be kept altering the time schedules. Even at the last minute!

I haven't kept up with the train models as I used to. This one looks and seems to work as a standard electro-motive engine, not as a "fast" engine. I believe that Amtrak has been striving for a consistent look for their rolling stock. Perhaps some one can inform us further. SunRail seems to be primarily a passenger service. CSX handles a lot of the freight in the southeast USA.
