I Just Received Notice...

If this image needs to be explained to you, maybe you should find another hobby other than photography.
First off, congrats on the recognition Bob.
Well, liking different "styles" is a matter of taste. And not liking this (I don't particularly like it but see things some would love in it.) doesn't mean you should give up photography. Or be so elitist as to set yourself up to make that judgement on another person.
There are a lot of photo styles I could not care less about that some people swear are gifts from God.
And yes, long ago I took a few Art History classes and there were/are styles/schools that different people in the class loved and others they didn't care about or even disliked. And all of these were things (painting, building styles, photography etc) that were deemed worthy of being in the text books and class material for a college level Art History course.
"If it has to be explained, then it didn't work, at least for the current audience." Of course some people take great pride in being part of the in crowd that "get" the message of the art. Makes them feel part of the elite. And some I have known when asked to explain some art work they were gushing about couldn't do it. They were gushing because the "true artistes" said it was great.

Well done, Bob. Congrats.
Thank you all very much for your kind comments and support over the years.
In reply to specifics, RRS, this was done with a large format camera, 4x5.
bobgood - Bob, I'm not sure what you are looking for in this image. I found the curved shadows of the screen protecting the bulb in the light along with the curve of the wall behind the bench, as well as the contrasting straigth lines of the bench caught my attention numerous times when I walked by this scene. After the third time, I thought if it was that visually interesting, photograph it. So, I took the camera there specifically to do just that. The intent was to artistically capture the tones of the light and shadow along with the geometric lines curves, etc. Admittedly, what some find visually interesting, others may not.
Perhaps if you could address what you exected to see I might be able to reply to that.
Again, thanks all.
