"Raw" is not an acronym, and it's not a backronym, so there's no reason to capitalize every letter. Would you ask someone if he wants his carrots cooked or RAW?

From Word-A-Day -
In a backronym, an expansion is invented to treat an existing word as an acronym. For example, some believe that the word NEWS is an acronym for North, East, West, and South. In reality, the word is coined from “new” as in: What’s new?
When naming something, sometimes a suitable name is chosen and then an acronym is retrofitted on top of it: USA PATRIOT Act (Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism). The clunkiness of the expansion is a quick giveaway. How about forming a backronym for ACRONYM itself: A Contrived Result Of Nomenclature Yielding Mechanism?
Often, backronyms serve a useful purpose as mnemonics.
"Raw" is not an acronym, and it's not a ... (show quote)

Meanwhile, on the other hand "Jerry" is a proper noun and should be capitalized.

Raw is raw. Uncooked meat ... uncooked image file. Read in context it shouldn't confuse anyone whether or not it is capitalized. If my raw files are on an sd card I'm not going to toss it on the barbeque. If my steak is RAW I won't use PhotoShop or ACR to make it palatable.

We should be discussing important things like what lens to buy for a trip to the moon!

I was listening to David Attenborough last night I'm sure he said "Animal hunting animal, and the steaks are high ...".

This has been brought up several times.

A while back I asked some long time computer friends what is was and several answered without a flinch, "Do you mean ransom access writing or random access memory?" So for a bunch of words, that's good enough for me.

When it comes right down to it, people do what they want so as long as the other understands it, who cares?

Next I suppose the acronym or what ever you wish to call it will be ISO. LoL

I question whether among & between are truly synonyms. Between refers to making a choice from two people or objects whereas among refers to making a choice from three or more people or objects.

Unfortunately even some (formerly) respected dictionaries have changed gone along. From Webster's:
between preposition
be·tween | \bi-ˈtwēn, bē-\
Definition of between (Entry 1 of 2)
1a : by the common action of : jointly engaging
shared the work between the two of them
talks between the three
— Time
b : in common to : shared by
divided between his four grandchildren

I would not consider them synonyms.

Neither do I, but usage is changing. (But let's keep that between you, me and the lamp post)

Unfortunately if something is used long enough, even erroneously, and adopted by more peopleit becomes the norm. Look at "gigs".

Look at "literally".

And don't get me started on the improper use of apostrophes

It is comforting to know there is, at least, one other who abhors the many injustices we heap on the Queen's English!

I've been meaning to ask our across-the-pond friends which is the correct possessive of it: its or it's?

Since the Brits, Aussies and Canadians appear to use incorrectly as often as Americans, I am curious

To my way of thinking, "raw" is not a camera file format. It represents a class of unprocessed file formats which can consist of NEF, CR2, etc.

After all, I may be snacking on some raw sushi while capturing images in raw format.

So, I agree it is not an acronym.
