Although I thoroughly enjoy great aircraft plotos, being somewhat of a gear head, I also enjoy photos of what makes the aircraft work, especially those marvelous Merlin engines. Your title was Merlin engine X 2 yet, no Merlin engines in the photo.

WOW ! A great photo of two of my favourite planes.
The Spitfire is the finest piece of aircraft machinery
I have ever seen (and read lots about it).
Amazing photo.

Thank you very much, Anhanga, and I agree with you.

Must of been exciting to photograph this scene.

Yes, it was; the entire day was great. This photo is one of 537 I took at the Great New England Air Show at Westover ARB, Chicopee, MA.

Thank you for the link. I knew someone who built a dragster using a Merlin engine. It was more for exhibition than competition.
I'm not sure how to react to your snarky reply. I wasn't dissing your photo, I liked it.

Great photo. You can also get the same sound from one Mosquito, or twice that with one Lancaster. I can only imagine the sound of dozens of Lancasters passing overhead at the same time.
