Good looking bike Enjoy the ride and the touring.
My Wing was an 86 Sei Pearl White and 1200 cc. I sold it in 94 when my 1st wife developed back problems from diabetes. Thoroughly enjoyed the ride and was going to get another in 2009 after the wife passed and I remarried. The current wife developed cancer for the 2nd time around so I couldn’t justify another bike after she fought 2X for her life so....... I bought a 2002 Corvette convertible with 4 on the ground vs 2. We still enjoy the open air but without a helmet
Enjoy your ride and..... be safe.

Forgive me Lord for I have sinned - -. Many friends own their Rides. Me (Car Man) - - I have Electra. A 2017 Ford Fusion Energi Plug-in Hybrid.
Currently running at 66 MPG, recharges for 20 miles in 3 Hr with a 40-amp Juicebox. AND - she's a pretty cage. I'll shut up now and color.

I don't know what that means. The K 1600 and GL1800 are very similar motorcycles. They are both sport touring bikes. They both have loads of functionality. They both have 6 cylinder engines. They're both not made in the USA. The BMW does cost more and it's more of a sport bike than a long distance touring bike. The Honda costs less to buy and to maintain and there are more available after market accessories. The BMW is better on the twisty back roads and the Honda is far, far better on the highways, a true touring bike. There are several things about the BMW that are better than the Honda and there are many aspects of the Honda that are better than the BMW.
Bottom line, I bought a Goldwing, my third Goldwing. If you like BMW'S, that's ok, I have no problem with that. HONDA... Nuff said...

nice, and you picked the right color too.............

Ironically, that's what originally cought my eye. I wasn't planning on trading in my 2013 but when I saw the red 2018 in an advertisement, I looked into it and decided it's time to trade in the 2013 while it's still worth something. I really like the deep candy red color.

You wife has her own Goldwing?

No, I got the six speed manual shift. I'm not ready for an automatic on a motorcycle, although my wife wishes hers was an automatic.

No, she has a Kawasaki Vulcan, and like the Goldwing it has a 6 speed manual transmission.

That's awfully rude, actually too much said. Do you even own a motorcycle? From what I read, the OP is more into the ultimate in touring comfort, not an oversized sports bike that calls it's self a touring bike because it has detachable luggage. Also, from what I've read, the BMW can't hold a candle to the Goldwing on the open road on a long distance ride. By the way, I do own a motorcycle and ride often.

Just got back from putting a quick hundred miles on the new bike. Was breaking in the stereo, sounds nice. Ironically, I liked the sound of the stereo on my buddies HD more than my previous Goldwing and he liked mine better, kinda odd. I don't know about the new one yet. I feel his HD has better base note than the Goldwing.
I do like the new 'wings power band. It's quite smooth and response. On the open road it purrs like a contented kitty, no irrational behavior like the BMW 1600 touring bike is notorious for.
I also stopped by the grocery store on the way home. Need to find out how much less I can carry in the smaller luggage. I was pleasantly surprised at how much it will hold. I filled the trunk and left side bag with $90 worth of groceries. Sweet.
So far I like it a whole lot...

My ex-girlfriend had a Goldwing. We used to ride all over the country together and with a GWRRA club in So Cal. She got rid of the GW and bought a Harley. I was very disappointed. In my opinion it was a piece of junk. All the screws rattled out of the saddle bag and the lid fell off. The throttle body fuel injection backfired all the time. The engine was hard starting at times. Junk! Plus it vibrates like crazy like most of them do. I used to ride Harleys before Goldwings so I know Harleys well. I had two at one time. They look and sound cool, but they don't ride for shit.

The only HD I ever owned was a project bike. I was actually part owner. It was a 1965 FLH that myself and a friend bought in 1977. The bike was in pieces, several boxes of pieces; the engine and transmission were in pieces, boxes of pieces. We had a frame, front end, seat, wheels and several boxes of parts. The person we bought it from assured us the entire bike was there, it just needed to be put together; it also needed a few new parts and new gaskets. We went 50/50 on it and actually got it really cheap. We bought a couple manuals and proceeded to lay out all the parts, and assembly began. It took us several months and a few hundred dollars in parts to rebuild the bike but we did it, and it worked.
Compared to my first Goldwing, the 1998 GL 1500 SE, that Harley was pretty much a large piece of crap. It's 70 cid, 1212 cc engine ran ok, it just shook something awful and shook the bike just as bad.
The bike I was riding at that time, well, there were two, a dirt bike and a somewhat bizarre street bike. The dirt bike was a Yamaha DT 400 and the street bike was a Kawasaki H2 750 triple two stroke. Who ever came up with the H2 was a very disturbed person.
Anyway, the FLH project taught me a lot about the right way and the not so right way to do things and it's also why I will never buy a Harley Davidson V-Twin. The design was sketchy in 1910 and it still is today.

I always enjoy the people who say they buy HD because it's American made. An intrinsically bad design is still just that regardless of where it is made.
I have absolutely no problem with people who ride Harley Davidson or BMW, or Motto Guzzi or Suzuki or any other brand of motorcycle. Hey, what ever floats their boat.

Yes, I've had 2 of them. I even took the Shovel Head apart and stroked it from 74cid to 92cid. Very fast after that. But none of the other components were beefy enough for the extra power and I kept breaking things. Long rides were very uncomfortable. I was riding it one time and I pulled into a gas station in Gorman CA where the temperature had dropped to 40 degrees and I was freezing my ass off. A guy pulled in on a GL1200A with all the bells and whistles and he looked so warm and comfy with his radio blaring etc. I was very jealous of him. That was when I started to pine after a Goldwing.
