Just saw an add fo a model CPR V5000 Robocall phone call blocker ($79.95) that has 5000 pre-loaded known scam, canvassing, solicitation, etc phone #s plus room for an input of another 1500. It got my attention due to the number of these types of calls we get throughout the day. I signed up some time ago with that free Norobo program but never saw one instance of it blocking a number/call.
Wondering if anyone here has any knowledge of or experience with this device. I am naturally sceptical of such gadgets. The scammers appear to be way ahead of defense measures. I checked on eBay and one for sale is listed as “pre-owned”. Makes me suspicious, considering it is supposed to be a new model.

Could it be that the device is a scam as well? Food for thought.

These calls are computer generated: An old fashion answering machine set to answer the 4 ring play the 4 tones you hear when you call a disconnected number, the computer hears the 4 tones and deletes your number, and these computers share numbers and information.

You may be right, but the item is being sold by a reputable and long time in business New York City store and catalog sales. I have purchased numerous items from them over the years with no issues. Thus, I would think it would be more likely the item could be simply ineffective or useless. The seller offers “lifetime” refund/replacement if not satisfied. I absolutely hate to have to repackage an item to be shipped back. Done a few using eBay.

The phone companies are fully aware of how these calls can be stopped and do nothing. It will be another product to sell to us. For many years they have been complicit in selling us. Many years.

I use Nomorobo, a service which is free for landlines and $1.99 a month for cell phones. It works very well, and very few calls get past it. The phone only rings once, and then the call is intercepted, so you know how many calls it's stopping.

Some companies, like mine, do not offer this service. Gee, I wonder why...

Great (and free) service. I’ve been using in on my home phone for about 6 months, and it’s great

Now they are spoofing legitimate telephone numbers more and more. So therefore this device would not be worth the price. I would double check nomorobo settings just to make sure you have it set up correctly.

I use this too and it's a great service! If a call does get through, just text it to nomorobo and they add it to the blocked list instantly.

We use NOMOROBO plus our Panasonic wireless phones will store 200 numbers to block, entire area codes if we want.
But the b#%*+!ds now spoof the numbers to my area code, and hang up after 3 rings. Never getting to the magic 4 ring auto-answer.
We get 6-8 a day that make it through my defenses. We don't answer the 'unavailable' calls but it's still annoying to listen to the ringing. Esp during my afternoon siesta.

This is one of those circumstances where Gov’t regulations might be useful.

ATT Call Protect app is free and very helpful.
Curious fact... phone company sells call centers our numbers then offers us protection against them.
No Call List means nothing to these low life callers.

I have my smartphone set up so that only numbers in my contact list have a ringtone. All others simply set to silent. Anybody not on my contacts ends up getting voicemail and all I get is one short vibration telling me I have a voicemail if one is left.

I have a V 5000 for about 3 months now and my number of calls have dropped by a estimate of 70%. If I get an unwanted call I press a button and I no longer get any more calls from that number. It does not work for unlisted numbers but those show up on the device and I don’t answer that call. You will need caller identification on your phone service for the device to work. Overall, I would give the V5000 a B+ and that it is worth the money I spent.
