In my experience, the source of the blue is often the light. In higher elevations, (at least here in Oregon) I have noticed that the whites pick up a blue cast from the sky. Seems more so with longer exposures. So I have a pre-set WB saved in my D300 for these occasions. Of course there is PP-- but I personally enjoy the outside part of photography way more than "computer work" . Just me: I do that 9-10 hours a day.
