Was down in Virginia Beach this past weekend for my son's birthday and heard that the HMS Queen Elizabeth (http://www.dailypress.com/news/military/dp-nws-hms-queen-elizabeth-20180917-story.html) aircraft carrier was in port in Norfolk. Took a quick side trip to the naval base and saw not only this unique aircraft carrier but also the HMS Monmouth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Monmouth_(F235)). Here are a few photos that I took.

Super shots! Quite the ship. If I remember right, I read somewhere they were using American aircraft initially on this magnificent carrier. Don't know if that's still the case.

Great shots! It doesn't look much like a U.S. aircraft carrier

Thanks Randy. She has no catapults like our carriers. She is designed for vertical takeoff/short landing aircraft and presently will be using the F-35B Lightning multirole fighters and Merlin helicopters for ASW tasks and larger helicopters such as the Chinook to support her contingent of Royal Marines. You can read all about her on Wikipedia here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Queen_Elizabeth_(R08)

Thanks CPO. Not at all and the mission is quite different. For more info see my reply to Treepusher above.
