Misty Acres

The scenery here in the Midwest is not spectacular or dramatic as other parts of the country, but has its own subtle beauty. Here is a swamp in a preserve called "Misty Acres" with some early color on the tree leaves. I brought the shadows up just a little in post. Using the cable release and tripod, and paying attention to hyperfocal distance has made for better results recently, I think.

Feedback welcomed.

A fine photo of the gentler beauty nature. I know you want to keep the subtle nature, but for my eyes on my monitor, the values are just a bit too grayish. A little more vibrance or tone spread would change that; but, again, perhaps you want it understated or my computer's (MacBook Pro 2015) is off. The composition is a good circular eye-leader.

I think it looks very peaceful and calm. I could spend a couple of hours there with a bobber and a book.

This is a lovely site and a wonderful subject. However, I think a bit more processing could really bring out the variances of color and texture a lot more. Due to the nature of the subject there is a bit of a green cast to the entire scene. It's a really lovely start, though.

Memories of Maine, appealing for what I feel as quiet and secluded. The inclusion and placement of the birch tree is very pleasing. The flat light and the subjects - smaller trees that have mostly dropped their colored leaves - seems particularly suited to subtle processing. Not all stories have to be told in a loud voice.

I like the muted tones--they make for a most inviting scene.

To really appreciate the natural beauty of your photo it must be viewed in the download mode. I for one like it just the way it is displayed on my screen.

The software that downsized images here is kind to some originals, not so kind to others.

Your scene is not highly dramatic; but the composition works well. I like the reeds? in the foreground around the pond. The trees are cut off at the top which is good. We all know they are trees and including the entire tree would have taken away from the pond, which is the important thing here. Well done.
