It is an observable fact that, when in the mountains, there is a particular elevation where the aspens turn into pines, and the deer turn into elk. But few are witness to these phenomenon phemenonen manifestations.
Ah, but if a pine falls on one of those elk, and there's no one around to hear it, does the elk still call a lawyer?
Excellent shots.
I have lived in these mountains for a long time. This is the first I have heard about Aspens to Pines. But I have seen many Deer turn into Elk. Another good one are first time river rafters. “So, we end up back here when it is over.” And living in a ski resort, “ where do you put the moguls in the summertime? Beautiful Fall day in the Four Corners! Enjoy

Don't know whether any liability claims could be made, but a thusly injured elk could potentially limp on down to a lower elevation where it could eat some aspirin bark. Probably be less involved than having to retain a lawyer, and be charged much less deerly.

Greatly appreciate the fact you can substantiate the deer into elk transmogrification thing, Neil. Now I can sleep easier! I was a little concerned that somebody'd expect
me to provide some proof. Whew!
Before retiring from my Nacherl Park Wrangler gig, I got asked questions nobody'd believe. (And since you mentioned it, where
do you guys put those moguls at the end of a ski season, anyhow??? At Arches, we'd bring all the arches down and put 'em in the Maintenance Yard for winter storage and cleaning and such....).
Wow, this thread is really out there Mulder. Nice shots.

What is it that hoggers are always telling the newbies? 'Have fun!'?
The Truth Is Out There.....
You guys have been reading too much Robert Asprin.

I once heard of someone who was
heinlining the stuff. And he got elked off in a fline sosser and got..... 'probed.' Without benefit of legal council. When he got dropped back off, he was all gray and spindly looking, sort of like a dwarf pine tree. It was a pretty novel transformation, but he grokked it anyhow.
Wow, we could really use an E. E. Smith Gray Lensman to sort things out.

Yikes! I thought
I'd gotten kinda fringe, but you topped any of the out-there-ianisms I'd confabulated up. Google is our friend. Turns out that each of the four E.E.Smith's _Gray Lensman_ series can be downloaded --free-- as .pdf files. Took a quick glance at Vol I, and it looks like he might be even fringier than "multiple-award-winning author" Judith Moffett. Long story short, I allowed her the use of a few images for Volume III ('The Bird Shaman') of her Holy Ground Trilogy. As payment, I got a nice autographed and inscribed copy of her book, and in it she wrote, "....I literally couldn't have done it without your help!" I tried to read it. Twice. Didn't get very far, either time. Too far out there for even me!
Cany, the first book of the Lensman series is kind of tedious. The last 3 were pretty good reads in my much earlier years.
