Stoop ball
Wiffle ball
Hand ball against your friend’s garage
15 cent pizza (in NYC pizza was the same price as a subway token)
10 cent comic books & ice cream cones
Affordable tickets to baseball games, and no “canned” cheers from loudspeakers
Red Pedal fire engines
Hoppalong Cassidy bicycle with cap guns in holsters and white tassels from the handlebars (my 5 year old Xmas gift from my grandfather)
Little League, where every kid that tried out got on a team, and played at least some of the time.
Empty neighborhood lots to play in
Ringalevio with all the kids on the block running in and around everyone’s backyard, and the parents smiling, remembering their own childhoods

Remember them all,...
How about.....
Raleigh cigarettes that had cupons affixed to each pack,...cupons were saved toward premium gifts.

One of which my mom got from cashing in those Raleigh cupons......and...

I still have, still use and works AOK fine,..a Sunbeam (real heavy chrome body, still shines like new) automatic toaster, you drop one or two slice of bread in,...it automatically lowers bread till toasted to desired doneness (via a dial on toaster,...the toast then lifts up automatically to grab.
Even has a openable trap door on the bottom,..to shake out any built up crumbs inside.
It's also repairable ,..not obsolete if it fails to work.

Still have the tag that was attached,...1954,...I was 10 years old

Who else but our generation would remeniss about such trivia,....

I think our generation was the BEST to grow up in and experience and make such wonderful memories.

Thank you Graham

Before switching to steel only, a small number of copper 43 pennies were minted. Numismatists will vouch that they are rare and very valuable.

BTW, I too remember ALL of the items from Grahams post. Guess I'm older than dirt at 75!

Last quote I found was between $60K (poor), $85K (excellent).

My mom got my two brothers and me very nice McGregor blazers. Wore it all through high school. Really good quality things in their catalogue.

She also save the yellow TV Stamps when she shopped at Krogers. She got some very nice kitchenware and many other things with those.

Ditto. However not enough people remember Bob Hope.

Back in 1982 while living in Florida I was working in British Columbia during the summer. I flew my 12 year old daughter up for a visit. When she changed planes in Denver the airlines put her in first class. She sat next to Bob Hope. They spoke thru the entire flight to Seattle. She is 48 now and remembers it like it was last month.

I remember all but one----- Oly-oly-oxen- free.
Would someone like to explain that one, please ?
I was much too shy and introverted to get into enough trouble to get sent to the principal's office, but my parents never believed in getting punished twice for one misbehavior.
I must agree.
Someone mentioned Raleigh cigarette coupons earlier. We still have a very good American College Dictionary and an American made pair of binoculars purchased using those coupons.
