Welcome to the forum. I would contact McDonalds but in today's world a double rainbow can be Photoshopped on any image.

Go ahead, ask Ronald if you can use their logo for commercial purposes and see what happens.

Better ask McDonalds! By the way, I have never seen a single bow rainbow!

Big money there.... For MacDonalds.... HooHoo. Anyone here ever tried to incorporate a Walt Disney character into one of your images. Keep a bank of attorneys on call.

Get a copy of 2018 Photographers Market for all questions of this type. Published Annually and I buy it every couple of years.

Amazon and B&H carry it..

Selling as fine art is not commercial purposes. When you place the image on other items it becomes commercial.

I did. I was contacted by someone from Disney. I wrote back explaining I took the pictures on my front lawn of characters that were 3-4 feet tall that I cut out of plywood. My wife painted them. They were designed for Christmas. A week or so later someone from Disney showed up at my house telling me to take them down. I expected this.

I invited them in and showed them the Do It Yourself project in the Popular Mechanics DIY Encyclopedia. It was authorized by Disney and actually put together by Fred MacMurray. They apologized for the inconvenience, said they liked the way the came out, and never said anything about the extra characters I added.

The funny thing is, I don't know where they saw the picture in the first place or how they found me. I never thought to ask.

Try a used bit dealer. I hear they are paying 10 cents a Megabyte.

But seriously: save it for your portfolio. Or you could send it to the Weather Channel:
you won't get paid, but they might use it and credit you--which is good for your
portfolio.

But if you are determined to make money off this, and:
* Your camera has a full frame sensor,
* The shot is really sharp and well-composed, and
* You are able to make a poster-sized, gallery-quality framed print;
then, it's a long-shot, but...

Most McDonalds have a sign that identifies the owner: sometimes it's something like
"XYZ Partners", but occasionally it's a person's name. If the owner is an individual or
in it with his family, then he might be interested in a framed copy for his home. (I suspect
that the franchisor has rules about what can be put up on the restaurant walls.)

There are a lot of reasons why such a deal will be difficult to do:
* Quality printing and framing are not easy or cheap;
* If you're not in the business of making framed prints, it's very hard to know in advance
what your final cost will be;
* Unless you are an established photographer, he's not going to front the money;
* If he backs out of the deal, you're stuck, and your option is to take him to small claims court--
which will make for you one very rich enemy.

Not every rainbow leads to a pot of gold.

I thought about this recently while in a McDonalds that has on its walls a bunch of framless 18x18 sepia-effect b&W prints of closeups of small flowers. They all look pretty much the same and match the interior colors of the restaurant. "How simple!" I thought, and wondered who took them and how much they were paid, and how much better so much of my work is that I never marketed. In all my gallyvanting and efforts to take amazing photos, I could have taken those flower photos in 10 minutes in my back yard with my simple, non-AF macro lens.
